Mount Abu is located in the south-western corner of Rajasthan. It is also one of the major pilgrimage sites of India for both Hindu as well as Jain religions. Besides the temples and sites of historical importance, Mount Abu is also rich in natural scenic beauties. According to the folklores, Mount Abu was also the home of many saints and sages in ancient times. According to the legends, all the three hundred and thirty million gods and goddesses of the Hindu pantheon used to visit this holy mountain. For those who like Walking, Mount Abu has many delightful walks. Nakki Lake, said to have been carved out by the gods with their nails, is a favorite spot for boating.

Mount Abu Tour Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Udaipur
Arrival in Udaipur and transfer to Hotel. Udaipur, described as the "City of Sunrise" in the evening. In the evening you will enjoy a leisurely boat ride on LAKE PICHOLA (Subject to water level in the lake). With its main attractions being the two palaces on the islands in the lake, Jagniwas and Jagmandir. The city palace extends along the eastern shore of the lake and you can go for a boat ride from Bansi Ghat. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Udaipur
Sightseeing Udaipur is also a centre of historic arts and crafts of Mewar, like the Mewar School of Miniature Painting. There is of course the modern face of Udaipur that one can look at if interested, but given the other sights from a glorious past, modernity is no real distraction. This is a place that will hold you in its thrall no matter who you are or where you come from. During a guided tour you will visit the CITY PALACE built in 1725, the grand City Palace is actually a conglomerate of eleven palaces overlooking the sprawling Lake Pichola. One of the largest, most beautiful palaces in the state of Rajasthan, it is now a museum, royal residence and a luxury hotel. This intricately designed monument is an architectural wonder in granite and marble; JAGDISH TEMPLE built in 1651 by Maharaja Jagat Singh, this temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is located in the centre of the old city. The temple has a black marble image of Lord Vishnu, which is unusual for the northern part of the country, where statues of Gods are normally in marble; FATEH SAGAR originally built in 1678 by Maharana Jai Singh, Fateh Sagar was rebuilt by Maharana Fateh Singh after the rains destroyed the dam. The garden island in the middle of the lake is Nehru Park, which also has a cafe. Return to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 03: Udaipur to Mount Abu. (5 hrs. and 220 kms.)
After breakfast, check out of the hotel & drive to Mount Abu which is the only hill station in Rajasthan nestling in picturesque Aravalli hills. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel. Take a short break and then visit the famous Dilwara Jain Temples. Dilwara Jain Temples were constructed between 11th and 13th centuries. After visiting the temple, proceed to Nakki Lake. This artificial lake is ringed by hills. In the evening, wnjoy a stroll down the bazaar up to Sunset Point from where you get a wonderful view of the setting sun. Stay overnight at hotel in Mount Abu.

Day 04: Mount Abu to Udaipur Drop
After breakfast drive to Udaipur. Departure transfer to airport for flight to further destination. Departure transfer to Airport / Railway Station to further destination.

Tourist Places to See/Visit in Mount Abu

Dilwara Temples
The beautiful and elegantly carved Dilwara Temples can be dated back to the 11th and 13th centuries. Made in pure marble, these temples are dedicated to the revered Jain Tirthankaras and are superb examples of Indian medieval architecture. For anyone who would like to travel to Mount Abu, this is a must visit site.

Gaumukh Temple
The Gaumukh Temple is located 2 km away from Mount Abu and is considered to be site where sage Vashistha performed a big yajna (fire sacrifice). The shrine takes its name from a natural spring here, which flows through the mouth of a sculpted cow. The water of this spring is believed to have medicinal properties.

Sunset Point
Situated at a short distance away from the beautiful Nakki Lake, the Sunset Point offers a spectacular view of the sunset over the hills of Mount Abu. This picturesque site is one of the most favorite tourist spots in Mount Abu.
